Abstract
The evaluation of a product or component can be accomplished using a number of methods as well as a variety of and/or a combination of analytical and experimental methods/tools. The analytical methods include Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or an engineering analysis using the methods of strength of materials. Experimental methods could include ultimate strength tests, fatigue tests, durability tests, creep tests or pressure tests. The evaluation of the product or component also could require the evaluation of the actual field strains/stresses, or loads.
The following test methods with examples will be discussed.

About the presenters
Both Mr. Philip Dindinger and Mr. Rob Evans have evaluated products and components for many years. Mr. Dindinger has determined the fatigue properties of numerous ferrous and non-ferrous materials. In addition, he has evaluated both components and complete vehicles. Mr. Evans has conducted numerous evaluations of products both in the lab and in field evaluations.
